AMCHA Sends Letter to California State Assembly Members about HR 35 and California Scholars for Academic Freedom
HR 35 is a resolution condemning antisemitism on California campuses and offering substantive recommendations for combating it, which was passed unanimously by the California State Assembly in August 2012. Several anti-Israel groups have asked state legislators to rescind HR 35, including the California Scholars for Academic Freedom (CS4AF).
On October 17, 2012 AMCHA Initiative wrote a letter to California State Assembly members exposing the anti-Jewish bigotry of a CS4AF. While CS4AF claims to protect California scholars from violations of academic freedom, their real goal is to protect academics who promote academic boycotts of Israel.
