ANTISEMITIC EXPRESSION: DELEGITIMIZATION 11/9/17 – An article in the school paper discussing an SJP speaker delegitimized Israel with false accusations of apartheid, stating, “The construction of the apartheid wall in 1994 made it more difficult for Palestinians to access their land…SJP is going to have a mock apartheid wall from noon to p.m. at Gullen Mall on Thursday, Nov. 9.”
DELEGITIMIZATION 11/7/17 – SJP held the event “World Without Walls Discussion with Lawyer and Activist, Huwaida Arraf: From Palestine to Mexico.” During the event, Affaf discussed “the apartheid wall,” delegitimizing Israel.
2/27/17 – SJP held the event, “Resisting Trump’s Foreign Policy” with Phyllis Bennis. During the event, Bennis delegitimized Israel, falsely accusing it of engaging in “apartheid” as well as endorsing the idea that Israel should not be a Jewish state, exclaiming, “…then you wouldn’t have Israel as a Jewish state. Yeah. Right. Why is that such a weird idea?” She further called for BDS.
12/1/16 – The Middle East Speaker Series and SJP held a film screening of “The Occupation of the American Mind: Israel’s Public Relations War in the United States.” In the film, several speakers condoned terrorism against Israelis by justifying all violence against Israel, including acts of terrorism against Israeli citizens, as legitimate “resistance.” Many of the speakers demonized Israel, falsely accusing the Israeli government of “terrorism,” “murderous attacks,” and “acting like a monster,” and calling Israeli soldiers’ actions “inhumane” and “brutal.”
3/10/16 – As part of “Palestine Awareness Week,” WSU SJP erected an “apartheid wall” and held signs on campus. The wall had panels which condoned terrorism with the inclusion of the phrase, “to exist is to resist,” denied Jews self-determination with an image that replaced Israel with Palestine, delegitimized Israel with, “If you repeat a lie enough times it becomes…Israel,” and calls to boycott including (on one poster), “Divest from Apartheid” and on the wall, “#BoycottIsrael.”
BDS ACTIVITY: CALLS FOR BDS 3/9/16 – In an article in the school newspaper, the President of SJP promoted Remi Kanazi’s support for BDS in his upcoming performance by stating that his, “satirical approach to Israel’s 68-year occupation in Palestine and his support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement is unlike any other poets’ message.”
BDS EVENT 3/7/16 – SJP held the event, “From Ferguson to Palestine: Black-Palestinian Solidarity”, where the promotion for the event contained an image with the words, “Resist US racism, Boycott Israel.”
