Classification Date-Description
9/20/16 – Two swastikas and antisemitic language were found in campus dorms. One swastika was formed using name tags from the room doors at Washburn Hall and had the words “Admit One Jew” near it, while the other swastika was drawn with a dry-erase marker on a white board in the common area of a suite at Campus Village.
2/14/18 – An article in the student newspaper demonized and delegitimized Israel, stating, “[American] tax dollars are at work every time a Palestinian child gets detained and tortured by Israeli officials for political resistance…The occupation of Palestine began in the late 1940s…Nearly 80 percent of Palestinians native to what is now considered the State of Israel were expelled from their homes. The 20 percent who still remain live in an apartheid state…In Hebron, for example, Palestinians are banned from using Jewish-only roads. Their freedom of movement is also restricted by the Apartheid Wall…”
9/23/17 – Christopher Bollyn spoke at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library, which is jointly run by SJSU and the city of San Jose, at an event apparently sponsored by the 9-11 Awareness Group. The event was advertised on SJSU’s event calendar and nearly two dozen people attended. According to Algemeiner, during the event, Bollyn “accused Israel of carrying out the 9/11 attacks with UN complicity and then blaming the attacks on Muslim terrorists to launch a fraudulent ‘War on Terror’ and reshape the Middle East.” Bollyn further “claimed that the ‘Israeli military command’ controlled Washington’s public response to the 9/11 attacks — choosing to push a false narrative that radical Islamic terrorists were responsible for them — and created fake histories for hijackers.” According to Bollyn, this charge was advanced with the help of the Project for the New American Century, a now-defunct conservative think tank…and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and their allies, the ‘Jewish neo-cons’ in the US and Israeli governments.” Bollyn also talked about the “Zionist Freemason Organization” yet claimed that, “accusations of antisemitism are wrongly used to stop discussion of these alleged events.” Bollyn is described as a “raging anti-Semite” by the Southern Poverty Law Center. According to one first-hand account, Bollyn further claimed, “Pre 9-11, Israeli terrorists come to power and still run Israel,” that Israel had a “master plan to dominate the Middle East,” the “Rothschild family [was] almost always involved somehow”.
DELEGITIMIZATION 3/20/17 – SJP and MEChA held the event “From Mexico to Palestine: A Night of Solidarity.” The advertisement for the event falsely accused Israel of having an “Apartheid Wall separating Palestinians from their families.”
DELEGITIMIZATION 11/3/16 – SJP held a movie screening event for “Roadmap to Apartheid,” a film which delegitimizes Israel, falsely accusing the state of apartheid.
DEMONIZATION 4/5/16 – SJP held an event titled, “Nakba Survivors coming to San Jose State University.” The Facebook description of the event demonized Israel by falsely accusing Israel of massacring Palestinians and being terrorists.
10/21/15 – Canadian-Israeli journalist David Sheen spoke about racism and homophobia in Israel. In his talk, Sheen employed several antisemitic tropes: Sheen falsely accused Israel of being a racist state whose leadership aspired towards a “theocracy” whose goal is to ignite a “race war” through violent means, including by “burning babies,” firebombing, stabbing attacks and other acts of brutality towards Arabs, black Africans and LGBTQ individuals; he demonized sacred Jewish texts, including the Torah, Talmud, and Tanya, accusing them of being deeply racist and calling for the brutal murder of non-Jews and homosexuals; and he compared “racist” Jews who believe that Jews should not intermarry to Nazis, calling efforts to prevent intermarriage “a eugenics program.” Sheen’s talk was sponsored by SJSU SJP.
BDS ACTIVITY: BDS EVENT 11/20/16 – SJP held the event, “A night with Remi Kanazi.” According to the advertisement for the event, “Remi Kanazi will be giving talks and workshops on the growing movement for a cultural boycott of Israel, the case for BDS, the case for divestment [and] combating campus normalization/dialogue efforts.”
BDS VOTES 11/18/15 – An anti-Israel divestment resolution vote of the Associated Students of San Jose State passed 10-5.

J Weekly – UAW, San Jose State foundation reject BDS measures
(Description note, “The boycott, divestment and sanctions movement against Israel experienced twin setbacks this week as both a major labor union and the endowment foundation of a Bay Area university rejected BDS measures recently passed by students. On Dec. 15, the United Auto Workers International Union granted an appeal filed by University of California graduate students that nullified a BDS measure the local union had passed a year previously. Also this past week, the Tower Foundation, which is responsible for San Jose State University’s endowment, unanimously voted to reject divestment called for by the student government. In November, the SJSU student senate passed a resolution by a vote of 10-5 demanding that the Tower Foundation board of directors divest from companies “complicit in the Israeli occupation of Palestine.” San Jose State became the first campus in the California State University system to pass a divestment measure. The issue came to a head at the foundation board’s Dec. 15 meeting, where representatives on both sides of the divestment issue spoke during 30 minutes of public comment. The 35-member board then voted unanimously to endorse a written statement rejecting divestment.”)
