11/12/15 – Pace University SJP was one of 10 local SJP chapters endorsing an advertisement for a rally that contained several classic and contemporary antisemitic tropes: it called CUNY’s leadership “the Zionist administration” and claimed that the administration “reproduces settler-colonial ideology throughout CUNY through Zionist content of education”; it suggested that the administration’s ties to israel were responsible for tuition hikes; and it claimed that the birthright trips and study abroad programs in Israel were in “occupied Palestine,” effectively denying the existence of the Jewish state. In addition, one of the endorsers’ demands included on the advertisement was that CUNY “divests from Israel, companies that maintain the Zionist occuption.”
9/5/15 – The Pace University football captain was caught on a Snapchat clip giving the Nazi Salute clad in a uniform of Confederate flags under the headline of “The Grand Wizard.”
ANTISEMITIC EXPRESSION: DELEGITIMIZATION 3/3/16 – SJP held the event “South African Apartheid & Lessons for Palestine, Pace U SJP.” The advertisement for the event delegitimized Israel, falsely accusing the state of “Israeli apartheid.”
2/23/16 – An announcement for an event held by SJP at Pace University NYC, entitled “South African Apartheid & Lessons for Palestine,” falsely accused Israel of apartheid and promoted the boycott of Israel.
1/14/15 – Pace University Students for Justice in Palestine was one of the signatories of a statement entitled “Say No to Faithwashing: Boycott Muslim Leadership Initiative,” which falsely accuses Israel of “ethnic cleansing” and “apartheid,” and pledges commitment to “the BDS call.”

In the News ?

April 7, 2016:
The Pace Chronicle – Students for Justice in Palestine Discuss One-State Solution
(Description note, “Three representatives of the community-based organization New York City Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) proposed a solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine in a panel discussion called “Revitalizing the One State Solution.”…The one-state solution proposed by the members is an idea for a “Palestinian National Democratic State” where both Israelis and Palestinians would have equal rights. Deputy Chair of New York City SJP Leena Widdi said that one state would integrate Israelis into Palestinian society. SJP’s course of action to facilitate the one-state solution is to “organize against” oppression in the United States.”)

October 21, 2015: The Sundial – On Leafy Campuses, Hillel Struggles For A Foothold
(Description note, “She described one incident in which a campus newspaper printed a yellow Jude star, the cloth patch Nazis forced Jews to sew on their garments as a badge of shame, to wish Jewish students a happy Chanukah. She contacted the editorial staff and asked them to remove the offensive image. The image was removed.”)

September 11, 2015: The Algemeiner – Major Jewish Group Expresses Shock Over Snapchat Image of Pace University Football Captain Doing Nazi Salute in Confederate Garb (Description note, “Pace University football captain Tyler Owens failed to get away with a slap-dash racist Snapchat clip which showed him giving the Nazi salute clad in a crude uniform made of Confederate flags under a headline that read “The Grand Wizard” — a reference to the leader of the Klu Klux Klan…The ADL lauded Pace University President Steven Friedman for acting swiftly to launch an investigation and strip Owens of his role. The former captain will not play until the investigation completes, said Friedman.”)

April 2, 2015: The Pace Chronicle – SJP’s Palestine 101 Turns Into Debate (Description note, “What started as an informative panel turned into an energetic debate during “Palestine 101,” an event held by the Pace University-Pleasantville chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), on Mon., March 7 at Lienhard Lecture Hall, as part of its “Israeli Apartheid Week… Dr. Joan Katen, Adjunct Professor of Political Science and Peace and Justice Studies at Pace, then gave a historical overview of the Israeli and Palestinian territories. Katen said the current conflict in Israel does not qualify as war, because a war presupposes that both sides are even… The Peace and Justice Studies professor at Pace spoke about Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS), a movement that targets entities that benefit from the Gaza and West Bank occupation… Ethan Behling, chapter advisor for Hillel at Pace University-Pleasantville, asked the panelists about the offer of Gaza and the West Bank by Israel to Palestinian authorities several years ago, and the subsequent refusal of Palestine. The panelists responded by arguing that said offer did not contemplate the return of refugees to their homes, and that, moreover, the separation of territories would be an unhealthy fracturing of Palestinian society. At one point, Khader called the creation of a Jewish state a catastrophe for Palestinians… Jewish attendees brought up Hamas, a Palestinian Islamic organization operating in Gaza that claims Israel’s destruction as one of its goals, as an example of the danger of recognizing Palestine as a state. However, Al Qawasmi said that Hamas does not speak nor stand for Palestine. She also said that non-Palestinians do not have a say in how Palestine is run…Behling said that Jewish students had gone to him after they saw the “Israeli Apartheid Week” was happening, and wanted to present an alternative.”)
