11/4/15 – A swastika was drawn on a desk in Dickson Hall.
ANTISEMITIC EXPRESSION: DELEGITIMIZATION4/2/16 – SJP members published an article in the school paper that delegitimized Israel, stating that “communities all across the United States share a common struggle with those Palestinians engaged in the struggle against the injustice of Israeli apartheid.”

11/11/15 – SJP held a “Demonstration and Vigil in Solidarity with Palestine,” with several members holding signs which delegitimized and demonized Israel by falsely accusing Israel of apartheid and war crimes.

10/13/15 – SJP hosted a screening of the movie Occupation 101. The film contains several antisemitic themes, including that Israel is guilty of “ethnic cleansing;” that Israel’s actions against the Palestinians are a form of colonialist agression; and that Jews in America wield excessive power over American foreign policy.”

3/2/15 – As part of “Israel Apartheid Week.” SJP hosted an event entitled “The Activist & The Professor: A Discussion on Zionism and Israeli Apartheid Featuring Ms. Tavia Their and Professor Susan Hussein.” According to one account, “the goal of the event organizers was to give students an understanding of how Zionism can cause oppression and apartheid.”
BDS ACTIVITY: BDS VOTE4/26/17 – The student government association (SGA) discussed and voted on a bill calling for the SGA to endorse boycotting Israel. The vote failed 11-1, with six abstentions. An earlier survey aimed at gauging student support for the measure found that 64 percent of students at the school were opposed. According to NJ Jewish News, “the proposal asked not only for a boycott of goods from Israel, but also threatened study abroad programs and academic exchanges between Montclair and any Israel-affiliated entity, including the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, Rothberg School at Hebrew University, and Kibbutzim College — institutions with ties to MSU.”
CALLS FOR BDS4/20/17 – The student government association (SGA) had a discussion about an upcoming bill calling for the Student Government Association (SGA) to endorse boycotting Israel. The discussion was sparked by a survey that will be distributed to students about the bill.
BDS EVENT4/13/16 – SJP organized a workshop on BDS with Tory Smith, a member of National Students for Justice in Palestine, that included “potential avenues for initiating BDS campaigns at Montclair State University.”

(Description note, “In clarifying an incident of bias reported earlier this month, Montclair State University Police Department said that a swastika had been drawn on a desk in Dickson Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 4. The University Detective Bureau along with the Bias Crime Unit of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office determined the graffiti to be a “bias incident” rather than a crime of “bias intimidation.” The two are differentiated based on the intention of the culprit and are followed by differing police action and levels of consequences.”)

March 5, 2014: The Montclarion – Student Organization Controversy on Campus (Description note: “An event hosted by the organization Students for Justice in Palestine this past Monday sparked controversy between some organizations on campus about what is and what is not acceptable topics for events on campus… the goal of the event organizers was to give students an understanding of how Zionism can cause oppression and apartheid.”)

April 26, 2017 – Student Government – FAILED – A resolution calling on the school to boycott Israel failed by a vote of 11-1, with six abstentions. An earlier survey aimed at gauging student support for the measure found that 64 percent of students at the New Jersey school were opposed.
