ANTISEMITIC EXPRESSION: DELEGITIMIZATION11/12/15 – Save The Kids Augsburg College, Students for Racial Justice Augsburg College – SRJ, Anti-War Committee, and Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP UMN) hosted an event at Augsburg College entitled “Caging the Oppressed: Mass Incarceration from the US to Palestine” as part of SJP-UMN’s Palestine Awareness Week running from November 9th-13th. The advertisement for the event delegitimized Israel, falsely accusing Israel of being an “apartheid state” since 1948.

February 24, 2015: MSA EVENT – Palestine-Israel: Understanding the Conflict At Hand Panel Discussion (Description note: Two members of Jewish Voices for Peace were on the panel, Cindy Cohen and Asa Diebolt, they were joined by Palestinian-Americans, Mint Press Founder and Editor Mnar A. Muhawesh and Anti-War Committee member Sabry Wazwaz. The event was imbalanced, and demonized and delegitimized Israel. Video/Report)

October 8, 2014: The American Jewish World – Augsburg College approves Israel advocacy group

October 2, 2014: The Washington Free Beacon – Pro-Israel Group Rejected by Augsburg College (Description note: At the request of Students Supporting Israel, Augsburg’s Campus Activities and Orientation (CAO) office conducted a review of the Sept. 17 student government meeting. On Oct. 3, Ann Garvey, Augsburg’s vice president of student affairs, made decisions as a result of the findings of the CAO investigation, which she said “are final and are not appealable.” Among them was that “Students Supporting Israel shall be recognized as a chartered student organization.”)

September 17, 2014: A well-known pro-Israel group (Students Supporting Israel) at Augsburg College in Minneapolis was denied formal recognition by the school’s student government on grounds that it is “unjust” and a “stigma.” Day Student Government voted 6-3 to deny a charter to SSI at a meeting Sept 17. School administrators said they fully support this decision.
